Punggol Heritage Trail Phase 2 still expected; Point Park stays closed

Walk the open 400m of Punggol Heritage Trail from Punggol Coast Mall. Phase 2 is expected end-2026. Point Park closed until 31 Dec 2027.

The first 400 metres of Punggol Heritage Trail have been open since 23 August 2025, from Punggol North Avenue to Campus Boulevard. NParks still lists Phase 2 as expected by the end of 2026. That is a target, not an opening day. Punggol Point Park, the sea deck at the end of the same coastal strip, is closed from 11 August 2026 to 31 December 2027. Toilets there stay open. Nearest parking for the trail is Punggol Coast Mall.

NParks' trail page is the live source: nparks.gov.sg/visit/parks/park-detail/punggol-heritage-trail. The park page for the closure is nparks.gov.sg/visit/parks/park-detail/punggol-point-park. JTC's PDD community page repeats the trail as a district amenity and points the same way. Do not plan a December 2026 sunset on the Point Park deck. The deck is inside the closed zone. The toilets are the exception NParks wrote down.

The open 400 metres are 24 hours and marked as wheelchair-aided. Total gazetted size is 2.75 hectares when both phases are in. Right now you get the first slice: a recreated bus stop, then Orchard, Cascading, and Barringtonia tracks through the trees. The family photo people take is at that bus stop. It sits close to Campus Boulevard, which is the mall side of the walk.

Walk it from the mall this quarter

Park at Punggol Coast Mall, 80 Punggol Way, or ride NE18 and walk out toward Campus Boulevard. The trailhead is not inside the air-conditioned concourse. You leave the mall, cross toward the campus edge, and pick up the map board. Two women on NParks' own stills are standing at that board. Read it. The Phase 2 alignment is drawn as future work, which is why this article will not name an opening week.

School holidays run 21 November to 31 December 2026. The 400 metres will be busier after 5.00pm, when PDD office workers and SIT students share the path with families. Early morning is quieter. Bring water. There is no kiosk on the trail. Punggol Coast Hawker Centre at 84 Punggol Way is the meal before or after, except 21 to 23 December when that hall is closed for cleaning.

Point Park stays shut through 2027

The sea deck, the planting beds, and the park lawns are inside the 11 August 2026 to 31 December 2027 close. NParks left the toilets open so coastal walkers still have a WC. Do not treat that as permission to picnic on the closed lawns. Coney Island Park remains a separate destination, 7.00am to 7.00pm, two gates, and it is not a substitute for the Point Park deck. Punggol Waterway Park stays 24 hours with the no-fishing rule.

If Phase 2 does open in late 2026, NParks will change the trail page first. Until that sentence moves from expected to open, walk the 400 metres you already have and turn back at Campus Boulevard. The mall car park is still the right place to leave a car. Do not park on the closed Point Park access roads.
