As an Equipment Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of precision equipment and automation solutions, with a strong focus on manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and performance. You will be involved in every stage of the design lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, ensuring all equipment meets the required specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Design & Prototyping:
Design and develop equipment solutions, build prototypes, and perform testing to evaluate functionality, performance, and compliance with specifications.
- Equipment Costing:
Calculate cost estimates for final product designs, including labor, material, delivery, and overhead costs. Prepare and submit detailed cost reports to supervisors.
- Specification and Buyoff:
Define equipment specifications and conduct buyoff processes by recording and analyzing test data. Modify designs as needed to meet safety, performance, and efficiency standards.
- Design Calculations & DFMEA:
Generate design data and calculations required for DFMEA. Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and robustness of designs.
- Sequence Optimization:
Collaborate with control engineers to optimize process and equipment sequence through design improvements.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM):
Apply DFM principles to enhance manufacturability, reduce cost, and streamline production processes.
- Project Support & Installation:
Participate in the full equipment lifecycle including assembly, installation, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment.
- Documentation:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOM), Operation Manuals, Training Guides, and technical drawings.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Design experience in precision equipment and automation, preferably in the Semiconductor industry.
- Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Willingness to commit to after-hours work when necessary.
- Able and willing to travel overseas when required.
