Dean of Art
The Dean of Art will oversee the Department of Fine Arts, Digital Arts and Humanity & Social Sciences. This role involves overseeing academic programs, faculty, as well as managing budgets and resources related to the art education.
Start date: Immediate until the position is filled
Location: This position is onsite at the DigiPen Institute of Technology campus in Singapore.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership: Deans of Art are responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of art programs, curriculum development, and research initiatives.
- Faculty and Staff Management: They supervise and evaluate faculty and staff, providing guidance and support to promote excellence in teaching and research.
- Budget Management: Deans oversee the allocation of resources, including financial support for programs, projects, and faculty.
- Student Recruitment and Retention: They play a role in attracting and supporting students, including admissions, academic advising, and student success initiatives.
- Engage in advising and mentoring students in a 1 on 1 and team setting
- Lecture and teach in classroom and/or lab settings. Teach team-based courses with a focus on project management.
- Grade, review and critique student team project-based work as well as design guidance as required in the course
Qualifications / Competencies
Required
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience, or a terminal degree, and knowledge within the game/simulation industry
- Strong understanding of team dynamics, team organization, and team communication
- Ability to provide quality feedback, practical work solutions, and instruction in project management
- Experience in collaborating with other disciplines beyond design – programmers, artists, marketing etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of software industry experience including technical and/or production lead positions with the ability to apply the skills of the area of specialization
- Management experience in PC games, mobile games and/or VR/AR.
- Demonstrated experience working on game or application titles across various platforms and/or media
- Teaching or other professional public speaking experience, including professional talks or panels at conferences, conventions, or events
Salary
