We are a newly established Chinese restaurant seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to lead our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently, managing a team, and delivering high-quality, authentic Chinese cuisine that meets both traditional standards and modern tastes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Planning & Development
- Design and update menu items based on seasonal ingredients and customer trends.
- Ensure all dishes meet high standards of taste, consistency, and presentation.
- Develop new recipes and food concepts to keep the menu innovative and competitive.
2. Food Preparation & Cooking
- Oversee all kitchen operations including food preparation and cooking processes.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served promptly and consistently.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with food safety standards.
3. Kitchen Management
- Supervise, train, and lead kitchen staff on culinary techniques, food safety, and hygiene practices.
- Manage kitchen workflow and delegate tasks to ensure smooth operations.
- Control food costs, reduce wastage, and ensure proper inventory rotation.
4. Quality Control
- Conduct regular food tasting and quality checks to ensure consistency.
- Address customer feedback and complaints related to food quality promptly.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.
5. Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor and manage kitchen inventory including ordering, receiving, and storage.
- Track kitchen expenses, food cost, and labor cost to ensure profitability.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, usage, and purchases.
6. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with restaurant managers and front-of-house staff to ensure service quality.
- Foster a positive and efficient work environment in the kitchen.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of kitchen operations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef in a Chinese restaurant or similar culinary setting.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and ingredients.
- Ability to lead a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work night shifts and on weekends.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety standards.
- Food hygiene and safety certification is an advantage.
