Building smarter: ConTech@PDD opens at Tower 86 this Friday

On 17 July 2026, JTC Corporation and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) throw open the doors of ConTech@PDD, a free construction-technology exhibition at Tower 86 inside Punggol Digital District. The show starts at 12:30pm and runs through the afternoon, with no registration required. If you have ever wanted to see a robotic arm lay bricks, watch an AI tower crane think for itself, or ask a real engineer how automation is actually changing Singapore's building sites, this is the afternoon to walk over.

The premise is straightforward. Robotics and automation (R&A) have moved past the demo stage in Singapore's built environment sector. They are now being deployed on live projects, and the industry's question has shifted from whether to adopt them, to how to do it well. ConTech@PDD brings the people building those answers, the machines they are building them with, and the agencies setting the rules, under one timber roof in Punggol.

What you will actually see on the floor

The exhibition is a curated showcase of robotics and automation solutions spanning four building-work streams: structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical (M&E), and general building works. BCA and JTC describe it as solutions "already being deployed at construction sites in Singapore", so expect working hardware rather than slide decks.

Walk the floor and you will cross paths with technology providers showing robotic systems for rebar tying, automated plastering and painting, sensor-equipped site inspection tools, and integrated digital delivery platforms that tie design models to the machines on site. Industry names already associated with the ConTech circuit, including Glodon's AI tower crane work, are part of the wider ConTech 2026 conversation happening at PDD this month. The exhibitor mix is geared to built-environment professionals, but the displays are visual and physical enough that a curious Punggol resident or SIT student can follow them.

Why Punggol Digital District, and why Tower 86

The venue is part of the story. Tower 86 is one of PDD's signature buildings, constructed with mass-engineered timber rather than conventional steel beams. It is north-south aligned for daylight, and its triangular form drives natural ventilation through the atrium. Hosting a construction-transformation show inside a building that itself demonstrates alternative materials and lower-carbon construction makes the argument more concrete than any brochure could.

PDD is also the natural home for this kind of event. The 50-hectare district is master-planned by JTC as Singapore's first smart business park, integrating the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus, the OCBC and UOB innovation hubs, and the Open Digital Platform (ODP) that runs the district's real-time data layer. Construction-tech providers testing robotics on a live site, with an academic neighbour next door, is exactly the use case PDD was designed for.

Who should go, and what to expect from the room

The exhibition is pitched at three audiences at once. Built-environment professionals, contractors and developers will find the technology providers and the BCA transformation briefings directly useful. Technology providers and startups get a room with the government agencies driving R&A adoption, plus potential industry buyers. Punggol residents, SIT students and the merely curious get a free, walk-in look at the construction robots that will be building the next decade of Singapore's housing and infrastructure.

Two practical notes. First, the exhibition begins at 12:30pm, so it is an afternoon visit rather than a full day. Second, there is no registration, which means the floor can get busy after lunch; arriving close to opening time gives you more time with the exhibitors before the after-work crowd arrives. The venue is a short walk from Punggol Coast MRT station and the Punggol Coast bus interchange.
