We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a wide range of inspections, surveys, and related tasks to ensure the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of vessels and cargo. This is a hands-on role which involves extensive work in the Marine & Dry Cargo areas, for which training will be provided.
Job Responsibilities
- Conducting Vessel Cargo Gear Inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Performing Vessel Condition Surveys, including On-Hire and Off-Hire Surveys, to assess vessel suitability and condition.
- Executing Bunker Delivery Surveys, Remaining on Board (ROB) Surveys, and Detective Surveys to monitor fuel quality and quantity.
- Conducting General Cargo Surveys and Draft Surveys to verify cargo weight, condition, and stowage.
- Undertaking Sampling and Gauging of petroleum, petrochemicals, crude oil, tallow, and other commodities to ensure quality and compliance.
- Preparing accurate Calculations and Reports to document survey findings and provide actionable insights.
- Inspecting container loadings to ensure proper handling, stowage, and compliance with regulations.
- Maintaining general office operations and ensuring proper care and upkeep of survey equipment.
- Performing equipment calibration as required to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Any other duties assigned.
Job Requirements
- Min. 3 years of sailing experience as a Junior Officer (2nd or 3rd Mate) on Bulk or Log Carriers equipped with cargo gear.
- Min. Diploma in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution. A valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) as a Deck Officer (2nd or 3rd Mate) is acceptable.
- Experience in marine surveying and knowledge of international maritime regulations and cargo/vessel safety standards are preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also performing independently during field assignments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a dynamic, hands-on work environment.
- Physically capable of working in demanding marine environments, including climbing ladders, accessing confined spaces, and working on vessels or at ports.
